Congratulations to the winners of the 1st Annual Collins Cares Youth Civic Pride Essay Competition.  Eight winning essays were chosen from  hundreds of submissions.  Prizes for participation in the contest  included Certificates of Achievement, trophies and free meals courtesy of Leona’s Restaurant.  The grand prize was a trip via limousine to watch the Chicago Bulls the Charlotte Bobcats from a luxury suite .   Special thanks to all of the participants.

Many of our residents have children who are already in college or who may be heading off to college in a couple of months. If you are one of these parents, I would like to hear from you. I can recall the regularity in which I contacted my parents to send me money for personals and for food for my dorm room. I am instituting Care-Package-College to give support to our Ward residents while they are away at college. If you want to volunteer for this initiative or if you are interested in donating items (soap, toothpaste, snacks, etc) to be assembled and mailed out to our children, please contact my office.
